Though there are many commercial guide books available for the Los Angeles area, resident Danielle Mead found that most of them were written from an outsider's perspective. Therefore, she created LA4Beginners.com in the spring of 2005 to provide first-hand advice for visitors and new residents. With content contributed by a team of local editors, LA4Beginners.com continues to provide an inside look at Los Angeles and its wide variety of activities, cultures and communities.

All of the colors used on the LA4Beginners.com website were sampled from actual photos of the Los Angeles area: dark blue from a sunny daytime sky; light blue from the horizon line; beige from the sand at Zuma Beach; and red from the Spanish tile found on rooftops around Los Angeles.
